Bakers Mill Farm nestles in the beautiful and peaceful river Axe valley surrounded by the rolling hills and picturesque villages of West Dorset.
The working farm dates from the early 1600's and is a haven for wildlife. You may see rabbits, foxes, badgers, and deer. The deer are not shy and you can often see them grazing near the cottages. Heron, geese, ducks and buzzards can be seen and there are many species of smaller birds on the farm, ideal for those of you interested in bird watching. During the summer swallows and house martins will be flying all around the cottages. Water voles and otters have recently inhabited the farm.
You can see the holiday cottages in the centre of the picture. They comprise a Grade II listed stone barn and traditional farm buildings which have been tastefully restored to create four terrace cottages, each with one double bedroom sleeping two/three plus cot, and a barn conversion with three double bedrooms, sleeping six plus cot. There is also a recreation room, laundry room, BBQ, picnic tables for al-fresco dining, and three stables for visitors horses. They surround a sunny courtyard, featuring a rill and small pond. A paddock is available for horses if required.
We are perfectly situated to tour Thomas Hardy's countryside, historic market towns and the Jurassic Heritage coast of West Dorset, as well as parts of Somerset, which are all within easy reach of this idyllic setting.
